Mainframes consist of multiple legacy integration points: sockets, script executions and the (dreaded) green screens. Can the actor model and the Akka toolkit be used to modernize these integration points?
The answer: a resounding yes!!! Based on Accenture's Emerging Technology actual mainframe modernization experiences, we have come up with a set of practical integration patterns to migrate mainframe specific integration points using reactive programming concepts. We will discuss how Akka Streams, RPC and back-pressure can all come together to bring about mainframe nirvana!
